Hartsville City Council members have presented a proclamation to resident Barbara Carraway honoring her contributions to the area. The City of Hartsville proclaimed Oct. 3 as Barbara Carraway Day 2021. Council members Teresa Mack and Kenzie DeLaine presented the proclamation at the finale of Gospel in the Park Series Oct. 3. Carraway is founder of Gospel in the Park Series, president of People to People of Hartsville, president of the Darlington County League of Women’s Voters, 7th Congressional District director of the SCDWC, Membership Chair of The Democratic Women’s Council of Darlington County, Darlington County Library Board, Darlington County Democratic Party vice-chair. She served as co-chair for Butler Heritage Foundation Centennial Weekend 2021. She is a former board member of Black Creek Arts Council, Hartsville Downtown Development Association, Butler Heritage Foundation. She helped with Christmas in April, The Great American Clean-Up Day, Earth Day, Cities in Schools. As the proclamation states, she has given her time selflessly and markets her community events. She is a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
